YOGA FOR THE SPINE

The spine is one of the most important parts of your body

It gives your body structure, support and mobility

The support allows you to stand, walk and lift. Mobility allows movements such as turning, twisting and bending

The spine is also designed to protect your spinal cord.

The spinal cord is a column of nerves that connects your brain to the rest of your body

The shape of the spine resembles the letter “S”

This characteristic outline allows us to move around on two legs, to maintain an upright posture and body balance.

The spine is made up of 33 - 34 vertebrae and intervertebral discs and is divided into 5 sections

Cervical, Thoracic, Lumbar, Sacral and Coccyx

The class “Yoga for Spine” is aimed to strengthen the spine and to work on its flexibility and mobility.

We practice asanas that focus on the four basic movements of the spine:

Forward bends, Back bends, Lateral bends and Rotation.

This simple rule of  four movements will not only keep your spine in good health, but will also reduce or eliminate inherent problems, such as back pain.

Classes are designed for those who wish to improve the condition of the spine and/or those who suffer from spinal issues.
